Week 47: FliesReplies v2.1 + New Pricing

Big milestone this week: shipped the v2.1 update with LinkedIn support. Experimented with pricing tiers and saw a 15% upgrade rate from free to pro.

LinkedIn Integration

Building LinkedIn reply suggestions was trickier than Twitter. The DOM is heavily obfuscated and changes frequently. Ended up using a MutationObserver approach that's more resilient to layout changes.

The replies needed a different tone too — more professional, longer, with industry-specific context. Fine-tuned the prompts accordingly.

Pricing Experiment

Tested three pricing models over 2 weeks:

  • Freemium (10 replies/day free, unlimited pro): 12% conversion
  • Trial (7-day free, then $9/mo): 8% conversion
  • Metered (pay-per-reply at $0.05): 6% conversion

Freemium wins by a landslide. The daily limit creates urgency without frustrating users.

Building in Public

My Twitter thread about the pricing experiment got 847 impressions and 23 replies. Several people shared their own pricing stories. This is the content flywheel working.

Numbers

  • MRR: $247 → $247 (flat week, but pipeline looks good)
  • Users: 112 → 120
  • Newsletter: 823 subscribers

Next Week

  • Mirkaat MVP sprint begins
  • Target: working prototype by Friday
  • FliesReplies: automated onboarding emails
